Kirby just really like movies.

His life changed irrevocably when he was 14 and first saw Kubrick's masterpiece "Dr. Strangelove." He knew then that he was a director; his life was indelibly that of a filmmaker. Kirby has studied at the Global Cinematography Institute (GCI), taught cinematography at one of China's top film universities, and previously directed two student features. He is a proud member of the WGA. Any list of his favorite directors would likely go well beyond reason, but it would invariably include Kubrick, Tarkovsky, Paradjanov, RW Fassbinder, David Lean, Danny Boyle, PT Anderson, Bergman, Iñárritu, Wong Kar-wai, Park Chan-wook, Visconti, Danny Boyle, and, of course, Kieślowski. Kirby’s newest film, “We All Think We’re Special” was recently completed. He currently serves as Executive Director at The COOL Cooperative, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to teaching film-industry workforce development skills to the youth of New Orleans.
